So...

I know that Dark Sun is coming up soon-ish. It's not my cup o' tea, but I'll buy the books to see how they do it, and hopefully there will be some things I can use when I'm running my games...

but...

I'm really curious to see what WotC has in store next. I'm assuming no one around here really knows, but it's worth a shot to find out.

I'm guessing Dragonlance, or maybe that's hoping!

Spelljammer content appears in the 4th edition Manual of the Planes[3], referencing Spelljammer ships as one method of traveling between planes (and providing information for in-game use for an example Spelljammer vessel).

maybe I was right...have not read the manual of the planes yet.

Not only in the Manual of the plane, more importantly in the recently released The plane above: secret of the astral sea there is some information (i think enough to) run a spelljamer campaing

Well, yes. There's a lot of info on Spelljammer already. It was my impression that was WotC was going to handle Spelljammer and Ravenloft like that. These two "worlds" would be detailed in various books on the planes.

So, I would think that when they publish a world book, it would be something different?

Dragonlance is a pretty smart choice. I find Eberon intriguing and I doubt they would attempt something like that again.

Kender,Draconians, the three orders of magic, the pantheon of gods. It's all so fleshed out and ripe for a 4E - fication.

I would love this.

I think that last year at Gencon, WotC said that the next campaign world was going to be Ravenloft (complete with playable Vampires and Werewolves). Now that HoS & The Shadowfell have been released (with a lot of that material included), I think that's it for that sort of thing.

This, of course, leaves a lot of openings for future campaign worlds, BUT...

While I'd still love to see Dragonlance, and it would make a lot of sense, but my gut tells me that it's not going to happen.

:(

Ravenloft. Makes sense as they already have a playable vampire class. Its a striker and has really low surge count, but can feed on others to gain temp HP and more surges.
