They've released the Adventurer's tools to the web-beta community, I played around with it a little last night and it seems decent. runs silverlight, so thats no shocker but has much of the same information as the stand-alone option with a few features missing (still in the works) and a few features added.

all in all, a reasonable step to bring it in line with the Cbuilder 2.0

This is the monster app that lets you sort, print and customize?

I still have a copy of mine and I still use it all the time for DM planning.

Thats the one, still missing some features but seems decent so far for a beta.

Is there such a thing as a final product in the modern age?

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be. But that doesn't mean there shouldn't be. As a former programmer, I recognize the increasing complexity of both software and hardware makes it difficult to produce bug-free products; that doesn't mean companies should get free reign to release buggy, undertested crud. And this is by no means a WotC-only criticism. Blizzard's patch to WoW version 4.0 was a nightmare.

I think that was the strategy offered to Dilbert's Pointy Haired Boss by the Dogbert Technical Consulting Corporation.

I happen to agree, that there should be a finished product before release - but unfortunately that doesn't always hold true.

As far as the Adventurer's tools are concerned, i'm happy they keep 'Beta' tagged on it. once they remove that i'll complain about missing features (see character builder)
