Hmm, let me see:

Eurorails/Dragon Rails, etc.
Ticket to Ride
Dominant Species
Arkham Horror
Catan
Take it to the Limit
Age of Empires III
Epidemic!
Chinatown
Modern Art
and there's a lot more that I've played (and liked) but don't know their names. When you play in a friend's basement with 10s of boxes of games to play, its easy to forget!

Axis & Allies
Risk 2010 AD (Original is always fun too)
Monopoly (or even Triopoly)
Classic Chess
Settlers of Catan

Honorable mentions:
Red Dragon Inn
El Grande
Seven Wonders

My board game mania started with Risk. I got bored of conquering the same map every time, so I made some of my own, with a little help from Kinko's Copies. Once I played A&A, it was all over. I re-drafted a few of my Risk maps and converted them into A&A maps. I didn't stop there though... ever since, I've been sucking pieces from other games into my new creation!

I mainly just hated the fact that the A&A game, and its combat rules seemed tragically trapped in the WWII era, with no place else to go. But now that I have Monopoly and Triopoly pieces for various kinds of forts, and Risk 2010 AD pieces for "future soldier" fodder, I've taken it upon myself to go the extra mile and reconfigure the battle mechanics for DnD style dice sets! I'm not sure when I'll ever perfect it... Play-testing gets hard when you're on your own with something this highly experimental. But I do have a name for it: Battlegrounds. And if I ever do get Battlegrounds perfected, I have every intention of going to Avalon Hill for a game demo/job interview!

Wouldn't that be great, to work for Avalon Hill? (geek sigh)

'84, you might be interested in Conquest of Nerath, a recent game made by Wizards of the Coast that uses a lot of Axis & Allies mechanics and is set in the 4e Dungeons & Dragons world.

Looks like fun! Like I need more addictions... heh! At least I don't have any that are destructive to my body. Just my wallet!

By the way, Michael's is a deceptively dangerous store for a board game geek to walk into! I walk in with my wife thinking I'm gonna have a boring half hour following her around while she looks for crafts... then I find the fantasy figurines and leave there with a medusa, a mermaid, a chimera, a cyclops, a treasure chest, a war-torn stone bridge and a purple grand dragon! And all that spread over only two different visits! I HAVE to stop going there with money!

AAAAHHHHH!

I played a demo of the new Lords of Waterdeep game. Similar feel as Age of Empires III. Its easy to learn, fast and at the end, leaves you ready to start up another game.

I'm going to be playing Automobile this Friday. I watched a demo and it looks like one I'll like.

Going back over my list, I mentioned Epidemic! and it should have been Pandemic. I played that a week ago with my wife and its a lot of fun even with 2 players (and one of them having never played).
